Italian Serie A football betting - Roma vs Inter

Jose Mourinho`s Inter continue the defence of their Serie A title today as they travel to second-placed Roma. Many thught the title race was as good as over only a few weeks ago as the champions held a commanding lead but the gap has now been cut to four points, with both tonight`s opponents and bitter rivals Milan in the hunt. Neither of their challengers have to worry about the Champions League and Inter will not want to drop points before their fixture schedule becomes more crowded.
Roma are very slight favourites for the game at 7/4 (bet £40 to win £70 profit) with Stan James, leaving Inter as underdogs at 9/5 with Canbet. Neither side will be too happy with their recent form, with both winning only twice in their last five matches, but Roma have recorded back-to-back wins while Inter`s home win over Livorno was their first for three matches. The draw is available at 9/4 with Coral but Roma have drawn only one of their fifteen homes games this season.
The bookmakers believe the two teams are very evenly matched and have made a 1-1 draw the favourite score for the game at 11/2, followed by a 1-0 Inter win at 15/2 with a 1-0 win for Roma sightly longer at 8/1 with Skybet. The same firm also offer 9/1 on a 0-0 draw and a more decisive 2-0 win for the visitors is 13/1 with Paddy Power.
Inter strikers Diego Milito and Samuel Eto`o have been made joint favourites to open the scoring tonight at 11/2 after scoring twenty-seven goals between them this season, with Goran Pandev, signed in January, available at 7/1. Roma`s best hopes of scoring the first goal are seen to be Mirko Vucinic and Luca Toni, both at 6/1. It is worth noting that the latter has scored four times in eight appearances.
Just how close this game is expected to be is reflected further in the half-time/full-time market. The bookmakers offer 4/1 on Roma/Roma, Inter/Inter and Draw/Draw, with the only real difference between the two sides being that Draw/Inter is 5/1 while Draw/Roma is at 11/2.
Inter are back in control of the title race and are now odds-on at 5/2 to win Serie A for an incredible fifth year in a row.
