Serie A: Bologna vs Fiorentina Odds and Betting Preview
By Tom Goulding on 2012-02-21 11:13:52
BOLOGNA, ITALY - 16th-placed Bologna host 12th-placed Fiorentina in a clash of mid-table mediocrity this evening which presents some betting opportunities to liven it up. Bologna are slight favourites to win the game at a best price of 13/8 (bet £8 to win £13) with William Hill while Fiorentina are only slightly longer, priced at 21/10 only with Bet Victor to get a useful away win. Punters can get 11/5 on the draw with Coral.
Bologna will want to drag themselves away from a relegation dogfight; they are four points and only two places above Lecce in the first relegation position. A win would take them above Parma, Catania and possibly Atalanta into 13th or 14th, and they have a good record of beating lower table teams at home. They have three wins at home only all season, but they were against 13th-placed Atalanta, 15th-placed Catania and 17th-place Siena, while they drew against 14th-placed Parma 0-0. They are 2/5 to beat 12th-placed Fiorentina with a (+1) goal handicap, and 5/6 to win with a draw no bet - both with Coral.
Fiorentina have won only once away all season, out of 10 games on the road, although they have not lost to teams in the bottom half of the table away from home. They have drawn 0-0 with Cesena and Siena, as well as beating Novara 3-0. They are 11/10 with Blue Square to win with a draw no bet, 9/20 with Bodog and Coral to win with a (+1) goal handicap, while you can back the goalless draw at a best of 13/2 with Boylesports and Coral.
Bologna are coming into this game in very good form, having not lost in the last five games, drawing four and winning one. Two of those draws were 1-1 and it is 11/2 with Coral for another 1-1 draw this evening. The win was an impressive 3-0 victory over Inter Milan at the San Siro last weekend, and it is 30/1 with Paddy Power for them to win 3-0 again here. 2-0 to the home side is 12/1 with Coral, 2-1 is 10/1 with Ladbrokes while you can get a best price of 13/2 with Coral for the 1-0 home win.Â
Fiorentina have the worst away attack in the league, failing to score in four out of every five games they play on the road, scoring only 0.4 goals on average in every away game. The Bologna clean sheet is 9/5 with Paddy Power, while the home side are 10/3, only with Paddy Power, to win to nil.Â
Bologna are 4/1 with Ladbrokes to be winning at both half-time and full-time, while Fiorentina are 92, only with Blue Square, to be winning at both intervals. Draw/Draw in the same half-time/full-time market is 7/2 with BetVictor and Boylesports, while Draw/Bologna is 11/2, only on Betfair.
Given they score so few goals, 80% of Fiorentina's away games have gone under 2.5 goals, and it is a top price of 4/7 with Paddy Power for under 2.5 goals here today. In fact 50% of those away games have gone under 1.5 goals too, and it is 9/5 on Betfair for under 1.5 goals. 70% of Bologna's home games have gone under 2.5 goals too, so that looks like a market worth investigating.Â
The match kicks off at 1730 GMT and is live on ESPN.
