Manchester City vs Liverpool - final score and betting result

MANCHESTER - Manchester City beat Liverpool 3-0 last night and were immediately cut for the Premiership title as bookmakers feared the high spenders could mount a serious challenge. City are now top priced at 7/1 (bet £1 to make £7 profit) with Betfred and Paddy Power to win the Premiership. By contrast Liverpool have been dismissed as title contenders and can now be backed at 28/1 with Betfred.
Before last night`s game Liverpool had been 16/1 for the title and they are now 2/1 with Betfred for a top four finish while Manchester City are best priced at 4/7 with Blue Square and Skybet.
City took the lead through a Gareth Barry strike on 13 minutes, which was set up by James Milner, who was impressive in his City debut. Carlos Tevez doubled the lead on 52 minutes when he claimed to have touched Micah Richards` header, although it looked as though it was going in anyway. Liverpool showed some resistance but were kept out by some excellent Joe Hart saves and when Skrtel fouled Alan Johnson and a penalty was awarded, Reds fans knew their chances of going away with anything was gone. Tevez easily converted from the spot.
Tevez was trimmed by most bookmakers in the top Premiership goalscorer market but is still available at 10/1 with William Hill, who chose not to take evasive action.
City had been 6/4 to win the game and the Manchester City half-time/full-time result was a 4/1 shot. Barry was 22/1 to score the first goal and a 3-0 victory was 28/1. Over 2.5 goals was a 11/8 chance.
Stan James will be the bookmaker most fearing last night`s result after offering a promotion that if you backed a team to win the Premiership and Manchester City went on to win it then they would refund your stake. Having done the same offer for Spain in the World Cup, they will be hoping lightening does not strike twice.
