MANCHESTER: Liverpool will look to deliver an early blow to the Champions League hopes of one of their main rivals this season as they travel to Eastlands to face Manchester City tonight. City started their campaign with a draw at White Hart Lane but are favourites to get their first win tonight, with Canbet offering 6/4 (bet £40 to win £60 profit) on the world`s richest club. Liverpool are 9/4 with Extrabet, while the same price is available on a draw with most bookmakers.
Both sides opened their seasons with low-scoring draws, with City`s match against Spurs finishing goalless and Liverpool conceding a late equaliser against Arsenal in a game that ended 1-1. Tonight`s match is 13/10 with Canbet to finish over 2.5 goals, with Totesport offering 4/6 on a less high-scoring affair.
The sides seem fairly well-matched and a 1-1 draw has been made the favourite score for the game, with Canbet again best price at 6/1. 1-0 to City is generally available at 7/1, with the same score in Liverpool`s favour at 8/1 with Paddy Power, Blue Square and 888 Sport. 0-0, the score the last time these teams met here, is also 8/1, and an encouraging 2-0 home win is 11/1 with William Hill and Betinternet.
Victor Chandler offer the best odds on almost every selection in the first goalscorer market and make Carlos Tevez slight favourite at 6/1, slightly ahead of Ammanuel Adebayor and Fernando Torres at 13/2. Mario Balotelli, who marked his debut with the winning goal in the Europa League last time out, is 8/1, while Steven Gerrard is available at 10/1.
Neither side will want to lose tonight and the match could take a while to get going, with City 4/1 to lead at both half-time and full-time, again with Victor Chandler. Most bookmakers offer 9/2 that City win after drawing at half-time and 4/1 that both halves are drawn, with draw/Liverpool at 6/1 with Sky Bet, Stan James and Coral.
City and Liverpool are fourth and fifth favourites respectively to win the Premier League this season, with City at 10/1 with Victor Chandler and Liverpool at 16/1 with Betfred. Chelsea`s second consecutive 6-0 victory at t he weekend has seen their odds cut from 13/8 to 5/4 to retain their title.
