Chelsea are strong favourites to begin the defence of their Premier League title with a win today as they welcome West Brom to Stamford Bridge. The longest price available on the Blues is 2/11 (bet £110 to win £20 profit) with Stan James, while West Brom are as long as 23/1 on Betfair, where the draw is available at 7/1.
The game is 4/7 on Betfair to feature more than 2.5 goals, as Chelsea are expected to win by a large margin. Last season Carlo Ancelotti`s side scored seven or more goals on four occasions and West Brom are as weak as any of the teams they thrashed. It is 7/4 with 10 Bet that they have an off day and the total is less than 2.5.
A comfortable 2-0 win for the hosts is the favourite score for the game at 6/1 with Victor Chandler, with 3-0 slightly longer at 7/1 with Stan James and a less emphatic 1-0 at 8/1 on Betfair. Betfair is also has the best price on a surprising 1-1 draw at 17/1 and a shock 1-0 West Brom win at 59/1.
Didier Drogba, who scored 29 goals in 32 Premier League games to finish as top goalscorer last season, is 11/4 favourite with Sky Bet and Blue Square to open the scoring tonight, ahead of Frank Lampard and Nicholas Anelka at 9/2 generally. Michael Essien, back after a long injury lay-off, is 14/1 with Sky Bet and Ishmael Miller is seen to be West Brom`s biggest threat, generally available at 16/1.
Chelsea are 7/10 with 10Bet to lead tonight at both half-time and full-time and 4/1 with Coral, Betfred and Victor Chandler to win the match after drawing at the interval. 13/1 is available on Betfair that both halves are drawn and West Brom/West Brom is 45/1 in the same place.
Carlo Ancelotti`s team are favourites for the Premier League at 19/10 on Betfair, while West Brom look set for a difficult season and are just evens with Ladbrokes to be relegated.
