Premier League football betting - Manchester United vs Stoke

The final day of the season sees Manchester United needing a win and a favour from Wigan to win the Premier League title. The defending Champions trail league leaders Chelsea, who face Wigan at Stamford Bridge today, by one point with a vastly inferior goal difference and will need a miracle to retain their crown. Stoke have been very difficult to beat for most of the season but United will take confidence from their 7-0 defeat at the home of their title rivals last month.
United are favourites for the game at 3/20 (bet £20 to win £3 profit), leaving Stoke as underdogs at 22/1, with Boylesports offering 17/2 on the draw. The hosts have been in good form since back-to-back defeats to Chelsea and Bayern Munich, winning four of their last five matches. Stoke have not found wins too easy to come by away from home but they have lost only one of their last five games on the road.
Alex Ferguson`s teams tend to perform when the pressure is on and the bookmakers seem to believe they should win comfortably, making a 2-0 home win the favourite score at 6/1, with Stan James offering 7/1 on 3-0 and Sportingbet going 17/2 on 4-0. A more moderate 1-0 win is slightly longer at 9/1, also with Stan James and a 1-1 draw is as long as 18/1 with Boylesports. Stoke are 55/1 with Paddy Power to shock their famous hosts with a 1-0 win this afternoon.
Wayne Rooney is expected to play through a slight injury and the Premier League`s joint top-scorer, with twenty-six goals, is favourite at 9/4 to open the scoring today. He is followed in the betting by Bulgarian forward Dimitar Berbatov at 4/1, with Federico Macheda at 9/2 and the evergreen Ryan Giggs at 7/1. For Stoke, Ricardo Fuller is given the best chance of drawing first blood, with the Jamaican priced at 16/1.
Manchester United need all three points today and a draw would do them no good. This being the case it is likely they will commit players forward early looking to get on the scoresheet and they are a best-priced 9/20 to lead at both half-time and full-time. The Red Devils are 9/2 to win the match after drawing at half-time and 12/1 is generally available that both halves are drawn. Stoke are likely to look to catch their opponents on the break and they are 66/1 with Paddy Power to get in front before the interval and stay there until the final whistle.
The bookmakers are finding it hard to look past Chelsea for the title and the best price available on the Blues is 1/10, with United given little chance at 7/1.
