Premier League football betting - Tottenham vs Arsenal

Tottenham face bitter rivals Arsenal tonight in a North London derby of huge significance for both teams. Arsenal are in danger of going six years without a trophy and their only remaining hope of ending their drought is winning the Premier League. However, the Gunners are now three points behind leaders Chelsea with a vastly inferior goal difference and also have to contend with Manchester United, who are two points better off having played one more match. Spurs are looking to finish in the top four and qualify for next season`s Champions League and they are currently four points behind Manchester City with a game in hand.
The visitors are favourites for the game at 27/20 (bet £20 to win £27 profit), leaving Tottenham as underdogs at 9/4. Both teams are in good form going into the game with four wins in each of their last five but recent history shows that Spurs are without a league win over their rivals since 1991 and have won only three of their thirty-three meetings since 1993. However, Spurs have managed to draw three of the last four at White Hart Lane and the bookmakers offer 12/5 that the points are shared again tonight.
The bookmakers seem to believe the teams will be hard to separate and have made a 1-1 draw the favourite score for the game at 6/1, followed by a 1-0 win for Arsenal at 15/2, with 2-1 at 17/2 and a more convincing 2-0 at 11/1. A 0-0 draw, the score last time the teams met here, is at the same price and Spurs are 9/1 to cause an upset and win 1-0, with 2-0 at 17/1 with Paddy Power.
Jermain Defoe has been made favourite to open the scoring tonight at 11/2 after scoring seventeen league goals this season, with Arsenal`s Robin van Persie and Nicklas Bendtner both available at the same price with Coral. Van Persie may miss out through injury as he has bee absent for five months now, however, and Eduardo is 7/1 to break the deadlock tonight. Tottenham`s other goal hopes come in the form of Roman Pavlyuchenko and Peter Crouch at 13/2 and 7/1 respectively.
Arsenal are 7/2 with Victor Chandler to lead tonight at both half-time and full-time and generally available at 9/2 to win the match after drawing at half-time. The bookmakers also offer 9/2 that both halves end in a draw and Spurs are slightly longer at 5/1 to be in front at both the interval and the final whistle. Draw/Spurs is available at 13/2 with Skybet.
Both teams playing tonight have fallen behind in the running for their respective goals but neither are out of contention, with Arsenal 6/1 with Betfred to win the Premier League this season and Spurs 4/1 with Bet365 to finish in the top four.
