Premier League football betting - West Ham vs Sunderland

West Ham host Sunderland today in the Premier League as the East London club continues its fight against relegation. The Hammers are currently seventeenth in the table, one place and one point clear of the drop zone, and will hope to take maximum points against a team with little to play for at this stage of the season. Sunderland are safe from relegation and can hope for nothing better than a top-half finish this season.
The home side are favourites for the game at 11/10 (bet £100 to win £110 profit), leaving Sunderland as underdogs at 14/5 with Bet365, with the draw at 12/5. West Ham are in free-fall with six defeats in their last seven games. However, they can take heart from their battling performance to earn a draw at Everton last time out. Sunderland will be extremely confident as well though after beating Tottenham 3-1 a week ago.
The game looks to be close and the bookmakers have made a 1-1 draw the favourite score today at 13/2, followed by a 1-0 win for West Ham at 7/1. The same score in favour of the visitors is available at 10/1 and a goalless draw is priced at 9/1. A more comfortable 2-0 home win, easing the pressure on their manager, is also at 9/1.
England World Cup hopeful Carlton Cole has been made favourite to open the scoring tonight and the big striker is 5/1, ahead of Diamanti at 13/2 with Bet365 and the Brazilian Ilan at the same price with the same firm. Another man looking to make the team that travels to South Africa this summer is Darren Bent, who has now scored an impressive twenty-two league goals this season. Bent is seen as Sunderland`s best hope of breaking the deadlock today and he is available at 11/2 with Coral.
West Ham are 13/5 with Stan James to lead today at both half-time and full-time and 4/1 to win the match after drawing at half-time. The bookmakers offer 9/2 that both halves end in a draw and Sunderland are 6/1 to be in front at both the interval and the final whistle. Draw/Sunderland is available at 8/1 wit Ladbrokes.
The Hammers have been in trouble for a good part of this season and although they may have made a small breakthrough against Everton they are still 13/8 to be playing Championship football next season.
