Aston Villa continue their quest for a top-four finish in the Premier League today as they travel to Stoke. Villa are one of many sides chasing a place in next season`s Champion`s League and are currently in seventh place, four points behind Tottenham in fourth, with two games in hand. Stoke are now safe from relegation, in eleventh place, and are just hoping to secure a mid-table finish.
The visitors have been made favourites for the game at 13/10 (bet £10 to win £13 profit), leaving Stoke as underdogs at 23/10 with Bet365. Stoke have won only twice in their last eight matches in all competitions, last time out drawing 1-1 with struggling Burnley. Villa, on the other hand, have won three of their last four games and beat Reading 4-2 on Sunday after going 2-0 down by half-time. The draw is available at 23/10 with Coral and Stoke have recorded the most draws in the league with eleven in twenty-eight games.
The teams are quite evenly matched and the bookmakers have reflected this, making a 1-1 draw the favourite score for the game at 6/1, followed by a 1-0 win for Villa at 15/2. A 0-0 draw is at 17/2 and a 1-0 win for the hosts is available at the same price. A more convincing 2-0 win for Villa is 10/1 and the same scoreline in favour of Stoke is at 16/1.
Gabriel Agbonlahor, who is hoping make the England squad for this summer`s World Cup in South Africa, is favourite at 6/1 to open the scoring tonight, followed by John Carew, at 13/2 with Bet365, and another England hopeful, Emile Heskey at 8/1. Jamaican striker Ricardo Fuller is Stoke`s best chance of sc0ring the first goal of the match at 15/2 with Skybet.
Aston Villa are 3/1 to lead tonight at both half-time and full-time and 9/2 to win the match after drawing at half-time. The bookmakers offer 4/1 that both halves end in a draw and Stoke are 5/1 to be winning at both the interval and the final whistle. Draw/Stoke is available at 13/2.
Martin O`Neill`s team are looking to participate in the Champions League for the first time next season and the bookmakers are giving them every chance, offering 7/2 that they finish in the top four.
