Premier League football betting - Arsenal vs Burnley
By Matt Knowles on 2010-03-06 14:00:28
Arsenal host Burnley today in the Barclays Premier League knowing that a win would keep them firmly in the hunt for the title. The Gunners are currently third in the table and are only three points off leaders Chelsea, impressive as many wrote them off after the Blues`s 3-0 win at the Emirates. Arsenal bounced back, both from that and their 3-1 loss to Manchester United, and have played their part in making this one of the most interesting title races for some time.
The hosts are favourite for the match today at 1/6 (bet £60 to win £10 profit), leaving Burnley as big underdogs at 22/1. The visitors have been in extremely poor form recently and have now lost seven of their last eight league matches. They are also without an away win in the league all season and will find it very difficult to get anything against an Arsenal side who have built up strong momentum with three wins in a row. The draw is available at 8/1 with Victor Chandler but this game is shaping up to be avery one-sided affair.
The bookmakers have made a 2-0 win for Arsenal the most likely score tonight at 11/2, followed by 3-0 at 7/1 with Skybet and 1-0 at 15/2. A 1-1 draw, the score last time the teams met, is 20/1 with Victor Chandler, with 0-0 at 22/1. A shock 1-0 win for Burnley is priced at 55/1 with Paddy Power.
Nicklas Bendtner has been made favourite to open the scoring tonight at 7/2. The Dane has only hit three goals in his fifteen league games this season but his goal in the weekend`s 3-1 win at Stoke suggests he may be in a thick vein of form. Andrei Arshavin is next at 4/1, followed by captain Cesc Fabregas at 9/2, who also netted at the Britannia Stadium. Steven Fletcher is seenas Burnley`s best hope of scoring the first goal of the match, priced at 14/1.
Arsene Wenger`s team are 8/15 to lead tonight at both half-time and full-time and are 9/2 with Betfred to win the match after drawing at half-time. Victor Chandler offer 14/1 that both halves end in a draw, with Burnley 50/1 with Paddy Power to be winning at both the interval and the final whistle. Draw/Burnley is also at 50/1 with Bet365.
Arsenal are firmly in the title race and now as short as 11/4 to overhaul United and Chelsea for a shock win. Burnley are fighting at the other end of the table and seem to be losing, with the Clarets now odds-on at 2/5 to be relegated to the Championship in May.
