Premier League: Arsenal v Fulham Odds and Betting Preview
By Tristan Wootton on 2011-11-26 12:15:00
LONDON, UK - Whilst other English clubs struggled in the Champions League this week, Arsenal stole the headlines with a 2-1 win over German champions Dortmund at the Emirates on Wednesday.
The Gunners have only had two days to recover before another important match against Fulham this evening, but they are the favourites with the bookmakers to beat their London rivals at 4/9 with Ladbrokes and Paddy Power. A draw can be backed at 7/2 with Irish firm Boylesports, whilst an away win for Fulham is a 7/1 chance with Sky Bet.
Arsenal are formidable opponents for any side when they are playing in front of their home crowd at the Emirates, as Wenger's men have won their previous five home matches in the Premier League, although admittedly none of those matches were against title contenders. After a catastrophic start to the season, which followed the shambolic transfer window activity up in North London, the Gunners have now risen to seventh in the table and are only three points off the top four, where many fans will feel they belong. The architect of their recent success has been Robin van Persie, who has netted 33 times in his previous 30 games for his club. Jenkinson and Sagna will both be missing from the Gunners' back four, meaning that Frenchman Laurent Koscielny will be at right-back once again for the Fulham clash.
Meanwhile Fulham have only scored twice in the previous four matches away from home in the league, and will have to make do without Damien Duff and Steve Sidwell for the short trip across town to the Emirates. Martin Jol looks to have a stiff task on his hands, as Fulham have only won one of the previous nine league confrontations against rivals Arsenal, and staggeringly they have never beaten Arsenal away from home. At least left-back John Arne Riise returns to the side following the birth of his son.
The favourite to open the scoring at the Emirates this evening is Robin van Persie, who is just 3/1 with Paddy Power in the market. Plenty of putners will be with him, but those looking for 'value' alternatives to the Dutchman may like Gervinho at 11/2 with bet365, who will refund losing bets on the market if the match finishes goalless. Arshavin and Walcott are at 6/1 and 13/2 respectively with William Hill, with Rosicky on offer at 16/1 with Sky Bet. Fulham have been backed to win the match and their best chance of opening the scoring in North London is through Bobby Zamora, a 9/1 chance with Coral, who disappointed for England against Sweden but will still be keen to stake a claim for the Euro 2012 squad.
In the correct score betting, 1-0 to Arsenal is out to 7/1 with bwin and 2-0 is 15/2 with unibet. The shrewd money has come in for a 1-1 stalemate, which 15/2 from 8/1 with Victor Chandler this morning. 3-0 to Arsenal is 9/1 with Sporting Bet and a surprise 1-0 win for Fulham is 18/1 from 20/1 with bet365, who again will be offering a 'bore draw' concession for punters.
Arsenal are 6/5 with bet365 to be leading at both half-time and full-time, but the same outcome is as short as 10/11 with Ladbrokes. It is 7/2 with bwin for Draw/Arsenal, with Fulham/Fulham on offer at a giant 14/1 with Boylesports.
A van Persie hat-trick looks tempting at 16/1 with Betfred, especially as it is only 10/1 with bet365. Over 2.5 goals is fancied at 8/13 with Paddy Power and a red card can be backed at 5/1 with William Hill.
The match kicks-off on Saturday 26 November at 5.30pm GMT, and is live on ESPN HD.
