Premier League: Swansea City v Aston Villa Odds and Betting Preview
By George Coombs on 2011-11-26 20:04:30
SWANSEA, UK – Aston Villa travel to Wales in Sunday’s lunch-time kick-off to try and bounce back from their lacklustre display against Tottenham on Monday evening. Swansea City are the 13/10 favourites with Paddy Power to return to winning ways in front of their home supporters. Aston Villa are quoted at 5/2 with Ladbrokes to record their first away victory of the current campaign whilst the draw is available at 12/5 with betinternet.
Swansea were undefeated at home until the visit of Manchester United last weekend and have only conceded two goals on home soil this term. They will hope to bounce back from this defeat to maintain their current 13th placed position n the table. Joe Allen should return to the starting line-up following his recovery from injury but Steven Chaulker is not back to full fitness since suffering a knee injury and so will have to watch from the stands. If the Swans can sharpen up their attacking play they should have enough quality within their ranks to win this encounter.
Aston Villa have been unable to record a win on the road and have conceded eleven goals in the last five away games. They will have to improve on their dire display at White Hart Lane last Monday and they will hope to tighten their defensive line. Villa have the edge in historical matches between the two sides, winning 14 of the 17 matches and none have ended in a stalemate. The Birmingham side currently lie two points ahead of today’s opposition in the league table and will want to make sure they are not leapfrogged by the Premier League newcomers.
In the Over/Under betting, over 2.5 goals is 11/10 with betinternet whilst under this same 2.5 goal margin is a best price of 5/6 at Ladbrokes. Four of Aston Villa’s last five matches have seen three or more goals scored and so punters predicting another open game can take the 3/1 on offer at William Hill on over 3.5 goals.
Swansea are 13/5 at William Hill to lead at the end of both halves and a Draw/Swansea City double result is quoted at 9/2 with Boylesports in the Half-time/Full-time betting market. Â A draw at both the interval and full-time whistle is 9/2 with betinternet whilst Draw/Aston Villa is available at 7/1 with Coral. Aston Villa/Aston Villa is a standout 11/2 with the same firm for any bettors who think Villa will come out firing on all cylinders.
A 1-1 stalemate heads the Correct Score market at 6/1 with Blue Square and a 0-0 bore draw is quoted at 10/1 with Stan James. Swansea City are 7/1 at Ladbrokes to win by a goal to nil and 17/2 with betinternet to win by a 2-1 score line. Aston Villa can be backed at 9/1 with Ladbrokes to record a 1-0 victory and are 11/1 with bet365 to win 2-1, having only been able to keep a single clean sheet in their last nine league matches.
Darren Bent has been installed at the head of the First Goalscorer market priced at 13/2 with Betfred and Ladbrokes. Gabriel Agbonlahor has five goals to his name in this campaign and is an 8/1 shot with Paddy Power but is also second in the most assists list behind Manchester City’s David Silva. Swansea’s most prominent player in this market is Danny Graham at 7/1 with Ladbrokes and he has four goals in the top-flight to his name.
This match kicks off at 13.30 GMT on Sunday 27th November and is broadcast live on Sky Sports ‘Super Sunday’.
