Wimbledon 2010: Roger Federer v Alejandro Falla Betting Update
By Tristan Wootton on 2010-06-21 13:40:25
WIMBLEDON, UK - 21 June 2010 may be a day to remember for tennis bettors. At the time of writing, Roger Federer is on the verge of a shocking exit on Centre Court.
Alejandro Falla, whom Federer has beaten comprehensively on four occasions before, has fought his way against the odds to take a two sets lead against the World No. 2.
Federer, the 11/8 favourite to win the Men`s Tournament, was available at 1/100 with William Hill before the match began. Falla had been a 16/1 chance with the bookmakers for a huge upset, but to put things into context, he was trading at 70/1 on Betfair.
Fed has only ever come back to win from two sets down five times, yet he is still a 2/5 shot for victory in five sets. His outright odds have taken a walk out to 5/2 after the wobbly start, and Rafa Nadal is now the 2/1 favourite.
Falla is now down to 13/8 to win the match with Stan James, but he needed physiotherapy after winning the second set.
Coral were 1/9 about Federer dropping a set, but also offered 1/2 about him reaching the final.
