ATP World Tour Finals - Rafael Nadal vs Robin Soderling

World No. 2 Rafael Nadal starts his World Tour Finals campaign today, with a tricky match against Sweden’s Robin Soderling. Soderling, who was a late replacement for Andy Roddick, famously beat Nadal earlier this year at Roland Garros in one of the biggest tennis upsets of all time.
Nadal is favourite for the match, priced at 7/10 (bet £100 to make £70 profit), whilst Soderling is at 7/5. Nadal has a 3-1 head to head record against Soderling, with their last meeting being that famous upset in the French Open.
Nadal is 7/4 to win the match in straight sets and 10/3 to win 2-1. Soderling is 3/1 to win 2-0 and 9/2 to win 2-1.
Soderling has had a tremendous year so far, with his French Open final being a breakthrough for him. He has reached the quarter finals or better in 11 of his 22 tour level tournaments this year, and has qualified for this event for the first time.
Nadal, however, has faded after a bright start to the year. He dispatched Roger Federer in the Australian Open, reducing Federer to tears, but lost his French Open crown and missed his Wimbledon defence due to tendonitis in his knees. Since returning from injury he has not been at his best, and has only won once in his last seven matches against top ten opponents.
Despite this Nadal is still fourth favourite to win the tournament, priced at 17/2. Soderling is at 18/1 to capture the title.
