Championship Playoffs football betting - Leicester City vs Cardiff City

Leicester face Cardiff today in the first leg of their playoff semi-final. Neither team will need reminding of the importance of the fixture and what promotion would mean for both clubs. Cardiff are facing a winding-up order as they struggle to pay back huge debts and, with the playoff final the most lucrative match in the World in terms of potential reward, could be playing for the club`s existence. Leicester, previously a Premier League regular, are looking for very impressive back-to-back promotions.
The hosts are favourites for today`s game at 11/8 (bet £8 to win £11 profit), leaving Cardiff as underdogs at 9/4, with the draw at 12/5 with SkyBet. Leicester are in red-hot form, having won their last five matches, conceding only twice over that period. Cardiff have only won twice in that time, last time out losing 2-0 at Derby County.
Leicester`s home advantage makes this a very even game and the bookmakers have made a 1-1 draw the favourite score today at 6/1, followed by 1-0 to Leicester at 7/1 and 1-0 to Cardiff at 8/1. A goalless draw is priced at 17/2 and a more convincing 2-0 home win, which would really put the tie in the balance, is generally available at 10/1.
Matt Fryatt has been made favourite to open the scoring today at 6/1 with Coral, who are also best price on Cardiff`s Peter Wittingham, who has found the net an impressive twenty times this season, at 13/2. Michael Chopra is next at 7/1, with on-loan Everton youngster James Vaughan available at the same price.
It is often said of two-legged ties that while a team cannot win it in the first leg, they can lose it. Leicester will be aware of this today as they look to avoid having too much to do in Wales and they may start the game cautiously. They are 3/1 to lead tonight at both half-time and full-time and 9/2 to win after drawing at half-time. The bookmakers offer 4/1 that both halves end in draws and Cardiff/Cardiff is 5/1 with Victor Chandler.
Both Leicester and Cardiff are given fairy similar chances of promotion this season but Cardiff are seen as the more likely of the two, priced at 5/2 with their opponents at 3/1.
