Blackpool face Nottingham forest today in the first leg of their playoff semi-final tie. At the start of the season few would have believed that these two sides, who finished sixteenth and nineteeth last term, would be competing for a chance to play in the Premier League. However, Forest have been very strong this season and while Blackpool only confirmed their playoff place in their final game of the season, they have shown that they can give anyone a game with wins over teams such as Middlesbrough and their opponents today.
The hosts are favourites for the game at 29/20 (bet £20 to win £29 profit) with Canbet, leaving Forest as underdogs at 9/2 with Betfred, with the draw generally available at the same price. Blackpool are the form team going into the game after winning six of their last eight matches, while Forest have taken all three points only twice in their last eight attempts.
A 1-1 draw has been made the favourite score for the game as the teams are very evenly matched, with 1-0 to Blackpool next at 7/1 and the same score in Forest`s favour slightly longer at 8/1 with Canbet. Sportingbet are best price that the game finishes goalless, with 2-0 to the hosts 11/1 with Betinternet and 2-0 to Forest generally available at 14/1.
DJ Campbell and Rob Earnshaw have been made joint-favourites to open the scoring today at 13/2. Forset`s Earnshaw has been the more prolific of the two, scoring fifteen while his opponent has managed only eight. Charlie Adam, who has found the next sixteen times for the hosts this season, is 15/2 and Nigerian striker Dele Adebola is 8/1 to swing the tie in Forest`s favour.
Blackpool are 7/2 to lead today at both half-time and full-time and 5/1 with William Hill to win the match after drawing at half-time. The bookmakers offer 4/1 that both halves end in a draw and Forest are slightly longer at 9/2 to be in front at both the interval and the final whistle, with draw/Forest available at 6/1.
Forest are joint-favourites, along with Cardiff, to win promotion via the playoffs this season, with Boylesports offering 5/2. Blackpool are seen as the least likely team still involved but at 4/1 they are given some chance of mounting a challenge.
