Valencia vs Manchester United: Final Score and Betting Result

VALENCIA, SPAIN - Manchester United overcame a stubborn Valencia side last night 1-0 to further distance themselves from their bogey days of European cup ties in Spain. United, who were priced at 15/8 (bet £8 to make £15 profit) before the game secured the win thanks to a great goal from substitute Javier `Chicharito` Hernandez who linked up nicely with other substitute Federico Macheda and then smashed a left-footed shot low into the corner, with five minutes left of the ninety.
Hernandez was priced at 7/1 to get the opener and for about sixty minutes of the game it looked unlikely anyone was going to score with both sides seemingly content with a draw. Neither side seemed in too much of a hurry to commit players forward as the game quickly became a battle for midfield supremacy, with lone strikers Berbatov and Soldado starved of possession for long periods. Valencia probably had just the better of the first half but couldn`t break down United`s defence, which was bolstered by the return of Rio Ferdinand.
Just when the Spaniards appeared to be on top, United sent on Hernandez and then Macheda as they hit the hosts with a classic sucker punch. Moments after Hernandez had met Nani`s floated cross at the back post with a shot against the upright, a devastating counter attack handed United the three points.Nani fed Macheda down the right and when his pass to the edge of the box found Hernandez, the Mexican`s first touch took the ball out of his feet and his second lashed the ball into the corner past Cesar Sanchez from 16 yards.
A 1-0 win to United was priced at 9/1 and under 2.5 goals was quoted at best odds of 4/5. Valencia were too shell-shocked to respond in the five minutes they had left, leaving United with a firm grasp on the destiny of Group C. United now have the same goal difference and point tally of Rangers, who beat Turkish side Bursaspor last night 1-0 at the Ibrox.
After two games in the group, with four more to go, Manchester United are priced at 4/11 with Bet365 to win group C and they are best priced at 17/2 with Totesport to win the whole competition. Valencia can be found at odds of 4/1 with Coral to win group C and they are a 50/1 chance with Paddy Power to win the whole tournament.
