UEFA Champions League betting preview - Real Madrid vs AC Milan

The Champions League group stage tonight throws up a clash between nine-time European champions Real Madrid and seven-time winners AC Milan. The hosts go into the game in better form than their opponents, having won eight of their last nine games in all competitions, topping their group and sitting one point off first place in La Liga. Milan on the other hand have struggled domestically and in Europe, winning only four of their last ten games in all competitions and losing their last European outing 1-0 at home to lowly FC Zurich.
Real Madrid are favourites for the game at 9/20 (bet $200 to win $90 profit), leaving Milan as big underdogs at 7/1. The draw is priced at 7/2. However, it is worth noting that Los Merengues have yet to draw a game this season in any competition and have won every home game so far.
The bookies seem to think tonight holds a comfortable Real Madrid win win, with 2-0 to the home side the favourite score at 13/2, ahead of 2-1 at 15/2. 1-0 to Manuel Pellegrini`s side is 8/1 and 3-1, the score last time these teams met, is priced at 11/1. 1-0 to the struggling visitors is 20/1 and 2-0 is as big as 55/1. 1-1 is 17/1 and 0-0, the result of two of Milan`s last six league games is 18/1.
French striker Karim Benzema is favourites to open the scoring tonight at 9/2, as top-scorer Cristiano Ronaldo is out injured. Raul, Madrid`s captain and all-time greatest goalscorer is next along with Gonzalo Higuain, both at 11/2. Former Ballon d`Or winner Kaka at 6/1. Another Brazilian, twenty year-old Alexandre Pato, is favourite to score the first goal of the game for AC Milan at 10/1.
Real Madrid are 6/5 to be winning at both half-time and full-time in tonight`s game. The hosts to win after drawing at half-time is 7/2 and both halves to be drawn is 13/2. AC Milan/AC Milan is priced at 14/1 and Milan to win after being behind at half-time is 74/1.
The bookmakers see Real Madrid as among the favourites for the competition this year at 11/2, but much depends on how well their new squad of superstars can gel. Milan are given a chance but at 40/1, they are not seen as the force they once were. Manager Leonardo will want his side to change that tonight at the Bernabeu.
