UEFA Champions League Group Stage: Rangers vs Manchester United Odds and Betting Preview

GLASGOW, SCOTLAND - Rangers host Manchester United this evening at Hampden Park in the group stages of the Champions League. Manchester United are odds-on favourites for the match, priced at 5/6 (bet £6 to make £5 profit) with Blue Square. A draw is best priced at 11/4 with Stan James and a win for Rangers is best priced at 4/1 with Betfred.
In the total goals market, over 2.5 goals is priced at 11/10 with Paddy power and under 2.5 goals is quoted at top odds of 4/5 with 888 Sport.
Manchester United go into tonight`s cross-border skirmish with Rangers looking to cement their place in the last sixteen of the Champions League. For Rangers the result is as equally important as wins for United and Valencia, in the other Group C game against Bursaspor, would end Rangers hopes of playing in the Champions League after Christmas.
The last match between these two sides yielded few positives. Antonio Valencia suffered a horrific injury that will keep him sidelined until February at the earlier. The fixture could not even provide entertainment with the match ending in a dull goalless draw; meaning Manchester United had to settle for a solitary point at Old Trafford. But when United travel to Ibrox, a point will be all United needs to advance to the knock-out round for the fifth consecutive season.
Rooney`s repentance is set to continue tonight and grabbing the opening goal would go a long way to healing some wounds. Â He is the bookies favourite to do so, priced at 5/1 with Ladbrokes. In the same market, Berbatov is priced at 13/2 with Betfred, Macheda is best priced at 8/1 with Victor Chandler, Miller is quoted at best odds of 9/1 with Coral and Steven Naismith is an 11/1 chance with Sky Bet.
In the correct score market, a 1-1 draw is priced at 7/1 on Betfair,a  1-0 win for the Red Devils is priced at 6/1 with Stan James and a 2-1 win for Ferguson`s men is priced at 15/2 with Bet365. Another goalless draw is priced at 8/1 with Blue Square and a 1-0 win for the Gers is best priced at 14/1 on Betfair.
Of course, United fans will expect the team to win rather than play for a draw, despite the implications of only needing a point. Depending on the Valencia-Bursaspor result, three points for United could be enough to win the group this evening and that should be enough incentive for United to go for it tonight. However,a hostile away environment almost certainly means 4-5-1.
