World Cup Top Goalscorer betting odds - Villa and Sneijder level in Golden Boot race

David Villa and Wesley Sneijder lead the way in the race for the Golden Boot, with both players having scored five goals while leading their respective teams to the World Cup final. Villa was the pre-tournament favourite for the award but Sneijder`s haul comes as surprise to many given his usual role as playmaker for both Holland and Inter Milan.
The bookmakers make Villa a strong favourite to finish ahead of his Dutch rival, with Bet365 best price at 10/11 (bet £11 to win £10 profit) on the Spain striker, leaving Sneijder as long as 3/1 with Ladbrokes and Paddy Power.
Some of Sneijder`s goals in the tournament have appeared to have been aided by a touch of luck, with one of those credited to him a blatant own-goal and his strike against Uruguay taking a big deflection. However, while he may fail to score in the final, if the two players finish with the same total then bets are returned at half the odds, meaning that a bet on the Dutchman would be 6/4 in a dead heat.
Villa and Sneijder are not the only ones with a chance at the Golden boot, though. Germany`s Miroslav Klose will be looking to break Ronaldo`s all-time World Cup scoring record in the third-place play-off against Uruguay and he already has four goals to his name in South Africa. Klose is available at 6/1 on Betfair and that bet would come back at 2/1 in the event of a three-way tie with the market leaders.
Two others still in with a chance are Thomas Muller and Diego Forlan. Both are currently only one goal off the pace and their odds of 16/1 seem generous considering the high-scoring nature of the third-place play-off, in which at least three goals have been scored in the last eight tournaments.
The play-off kicks off at 7.30 pm BST on Friday and the World Cup final is at the same time on Sunday evening.
