Netherlands vs Slovakia first goalscorer preview - World Cup betting odds

Robin van Persie has been made favourite to open the scoring today as the Netherlands take on Slovakia in the first knock-out round of the World Cup in South Africa. The Arsenal striker is available at 7/2, and did not disappoint his backers in the last match against Cameroon.

He is followed in the betting by the prolific Klaas-Jan Huntelaar. Huntelaar has scored 15 times in 32 caps for his country and managed seven goals in ten starts last season for A.C Milan, despite going through a few dry spells. He has already netted this summer, scoring the winner against Cameroon, and is sure to get chances today against a fairly average Slovakia side.

Arjen Robben, who lit up the Champions League with a series of incredible displays last season, most memorably volleying Manchester United out of the competition, is 13/2 with Victor Chandler to add to his thirteen international goals by scoring the opener this afternoon.

For Slovakia, the biggest danger comes from Robert Vittek.
