World Cup 2010 - Greece vs South Korea betting preview

The second day of the World Cup sees a group B cash between Greece and South Korea. Neither side is likely to go too far in the tournament but with only one stand-out team in the group, in the form of Argentina, both will be fancy themselves to at least progress to the next round.
The teams are proving difficult for the bookmakers to separate, with Greece slight favourites at 7/4 (bet £40 to win £70 profit), leaving South Korea as underdogs at 2/1 with the draw at 11/5 with Sky Bet and Victor Chandler.
Neither side is in top form and a 1-0 win over Ukraine is Greece`s only win in their last five games. Korea, meanwhile, will hope to bounce back from consecutive defeats to Spain and Belarus.
A 1-1 draw has been made the favourite score for the game at 6/1 with Canbet, followed closely by 1-0 to Greece at 13/2. Bluesquare and 888sport offer 7/1 that the game finishes goalless, while the same price is generally available on a 1-0 win for South Korea. Sky Bet are best price on 2-0 to the underdogs, offering 16/1.
Theofanis Gekas is favourite to open the scoring tonight at 7/1. The Hertha BSC striker had a disappointing campaign in the Bundesliga but has an excellent scoring record for his country, with 20 goals from just 47 games. He is followed in the betting by Angelos Charisteas, who scored the winning goal in Greece`s Euro 2008 final triumph, at 7/1 with Stan James, and Korea`s Chu-Young Park, at 8/1.
The half-time/full-time market provides further evidence of how evenly matched these teams are. Greece are 4/1 to lead at both half-time and full-time and 5/1 to win the match after drawing at the interval. The bookmakers offer 4/1 that both halves are drawn and Korea/Korea is available at 5/1 with Sky Bet. Draw/Korea is 13/2 with the same firm.
The bookmakers seem to think that both of these teams go to South Africa as big outsiders, with Greece at 250/1 and their opponents as long as 300/1. Spain are favourites for the tournament at 4/1.
