2010 World Cup Qualifier Betting - Brazil vs Venezuela
By Matt Knowles on 2009-10-14 21:00:19
Five-time World Cup winners Brazil host Venezuela tonight in the qualifying stages of next year`s tournament. Brazil have already qualified for the tournament and top their group but lost last weekend to 2-1 to Bolivia. Venezuela, while not mathematically eliminated, cannot realistically overcome a three-point and fifteen-goal gap between themselves and fifth-placed Uruguay and also lost 2-1 on Saturday.
As expected, Brazil are heavy favourites for the game at 2/9 (bet $90 to win $20 profit) and Venezuela are huge underdogs at 18/1 and it is easy to see why, as last time the sides met in October last year Brazil won 4-0 in Venezuela. The draw is priced at 6/1.
A 2-0 win for Brazil is the most likely score at 6/1, followed by 1-0 and 3-0, both at 8/1. 2-1 to the hosts is 10/1 and another 4-0 thrashing is 12/1. A goal-less draw is priced at 20/1 and Brazil have drawn 0-0 in three of their last twelve qualifiers. 1-0 to Venezuela is 35/1 and 2-0 is a huge 150/1.
Both teams to score in the match is priced at 11/10. This could be an interesting bet, as both teams have scored in Brazil`s and Venezuela`s last four qualifiers, and in all of these games there have been over 2.5 goals scored, a bet which is 8/15.
The bookies have made Brazil to be winning at half-time and full-time the most likely scenario at 4/6. Draw/Brazil is 4/1 while Brazil to throw away a half-time lead and draw the game is 40/1. Draw/draw is 11/1 and a shock win for Venezuela after the teams were drawing at half-time is 50/1.
Brazil are favourites to win the World Cup next year in South Africa at 5/1. Venezuela cannot qualify but would like nothing better than to exit the tournament on a high by beating their star-studded opponents tonight.
